Caen Hospital: a Square+ bike shelter with 400 bike spaces

In Caen, the university hospital has chosen to set up a large-capacity bicycle parking area featuring a Square+ shelter equipped with 2Park Up racks.

With more than 400 bike parking spaces, this facility provides staff with a dedicated area for parking their bicycles, while keeping them secure and protected from the elements.

Bicycle parking suitable for a hospital

Healthcare facilities welcome many professionals every day. Bicycle parking must therefore be able to accommodate high volumes of use, particularly when employees ride bicycles to and from work.

In Caen, the facility chose to install a large-capacity enclosed bike shelter – with more than 400 spaces in a single area – when it relocated. The hospital needed to expand bicycle and scooter parking for its employees, as an increasing number of them were commuting to work by bike. This new setup provides a dedicated space for cyclists and optimizes the available space within the facility.

A large Square+ bike shelter

For this project, the Square+ model was selected. Its design allows for the creation of a parking area large enough to accommodate a significant number of bicycles, while providing security and protection from the weather. The shelter provides a dedicated space for bicycle parking that is easily identifiable within the facility’s outdoor areas. Employees can ride their bikes to work without worrying about where to park or the safety of their bicycles.

The Square+ bike shelter features numerous 2Park Up racks, allowing for multi-level bike parking and optimizing the facility’s capacity. In total, the facility offers 400 bike spaces. This capacity meets the needs of a site that serves many users daily and provides an alternative to individual bike parking scattered throughout the site. The racks also help organize the interior space of the shelter and make it easier to store bikes.

With this installation, the Caen hospital now has a dedicated, covered bicycle parking area with a large capacity. The choice of a Square+ shelter combined with 2Park Up racks provides a solution that combines protection, capacity, and organized parking—all tailored to the needs of a healthcare facility.
