24 meters! This is the incredible length of the secure bicycle shelter that was built at Tours railway station (37) last October, making it the largest bicycle parking facility in the Centre-Val de Loire region.
This impressively large Modul’Ere bicycle shelter, built via UGAP, is now in service, providing secure accommodation for up to 120 bicycles. Creating bicycle parking spaces at stations is a real boost to sustainable mobility and, above all, intermodality. The city of Tours is encouraging people to combine bike & train or bike & streetcar with ease.
The bike shelter is clad with random bars and perforated sheeting overhead. A 24-metre side canopy also provides additional self-service parking spaces.

Inside the bike shelter, the Romeo model was chosen for the bike racks. With alternating high and low bike positions and reduced center-to-center distances, these bike racks optimize the available space and accommodate the maximum number of bicycles. The positioning of these bike racks also leaves plenty of space in the middle of the shelter to facilitate bike circulation, even when traffic is heavy. What’s more, they are accessible to all types of cycle, including cargo bikes and electric-assist bicycles.
