Safe bike parking in the port of Le Havre!

As France’s leading port, the Port of Le Havre, HAROPA PORT, occupies a strategic position at the heart of international trade. Connected to every continent, it is France’s largest logistics hub and plays a major role in the economic and industrial attractiveness of the region.

Since 2020, HAROPA PORT has been deploying an ambitious strategic project aimed at structuring a benchmark maritime and river port system on a European scale. This roadmap is built around a number of key priorities, among which multimodality, environmental transition and sustainable transformation of the region occupy a central place.

With this in mind, the Port of Le Havre decided to invest in soft mobility solutions, to encourage more responsible modes of travel and facilitate access to the site for all. To carry out this project, HAROPA PORT called on Abri Plus to install an enclosed, secure bicycle shelter. This was customized with equipment chosen by the port to meet their needs.

The choice fell on a Modul’Ere bicycle shelter, capable of accommodating 34 bicycles thanks to various terminals installed in the shelter:

Romeo terminals, which optimize the number of bicycles parked by alternating between high and low positions,
e-park terminals for electrically-assisted bicycles, enabling two bikes and their batteries to be recharged and secured at the same time,
Rings and bollards for cargo bikes, enabling two bikes to be secured at the same time.

Fully enclosed, the shelter is secured by a VIGIK® badge access system, managed directly by the port, guaranteeing controlled access and peace of mind for users. Theshelter is also equipped with a presence-detecting LED lighting system, to ensure comfort of use at all times of the day.

This project is a concrete illustration of the Port of Le Havre’s commitment to sustainable mobility, and shows how appropriate infrastructures can support the transformation of regions while improving the daily lives of users!
