A shaded rest area

A need for shade and comfort in the heart of a sunny location

In Vitrolles (13), near Marseille, FDJ wanted to provide its employees with a pleasant break area, designed with the region’s particularly sunny climate in mind.

Two major challenges were identified: the need to provide shade to effectively protect employees during their breaks, while also offering a dedicated space for relaxation that is comfortable, easily recognizable, and suited to the outdoor environment.

In the contextof urban planning, where workplace well-being is becoming increasingly important, the implementation of shading solutions is essential for improving conditions in break areas.

The Sombra Shade Structure: An Effective and Aesthetic Shading Solution

To meet this need, the FDJ turned to Abri Plus to identify a structure that would fit within the available space while allowing employees to enjoy a shaded and comfortable spot during their breaks.

Based on these needs, our experts recommended installing a shade structure – a sun shelter designed for exposed outdoor areas – that also serves as a dedicated break area.

The choice fell on the Sombra shade structure, a model designed for:

This shade structure is fully customizable—in terms of its dimensions, openings, colors, and finishes—and can be adapted to anyurban development project, helping to create an outdoor space dedicated to employee well-being.

A well-designed, welcoming break area

To enhance employee comfort, the FDJ has added benches to its area so that employees can sit and relax, as well as ashtrays to promote a clean and organized use of the space.

This new shaded break area thus becomes a pleasant, functional space suitable for all daily uses and helps ensure that smoking on company premises takes place in a designated, dedicated area.
