Inauguration of an Abri Plus bike room financed by the Alvéole program in Caen (14)

Abri Plus has inaugurated the first secure bike room financed by the CEE Alvéole program in the Calvados region (14) . The bike room was installed at the Foyer de Jeunes Travailleurs du Père Sanson in Caen (14) on May 13.

At the outset of the project, the managers of this social residence – an association under the French Law of 1901 – wanted to set up a covered, secure bicycle storage area for the residents of the FJT.

After an in-depth study of the bicycle installation project by its design office, Abri Plus’ teams manufactured and installed a Fleury secure bicycle shelter in the establishment’s parking lot.

The secure bike locker, built in our workshops near Nantes (44), is 6 meters long and 3 meters wide.

The lower part of the enclosure is made of galvanized sheet metal , painted dark gray RAL7016, and the upper part of the enclosure is screened.

A wide variety of coverings are also available for this model of bike shelter: glass, wood, mesh, vertical or horizontal bars or a combination of these materials.

This enclosed bike room has also been fitted with connected, upside-downU-shaped bollards for parking 12 bikes (2 bikes per bollard).

Our U-bike bollards fit perfectly into the Fleury shelter and provide 3-point bike security.

The communal bike shelter has been fitted with a motion detector lighting system to make it easier to get around by bike every day, whatever the time of day.

The access door to the shelter is also fitted with a digicode, the code for which is issued by the home’s reception desk to residents wishing to secure their two-wheeled vehicles inside.

Thanks to the Alvéole program, the “Foyer du Père Sanson” association was able to benefit froma subsidy corresponding to 60% of its investment , as well as ecomobility support provided by a local FUB network bicycle association (paid 100% by Alvéole).

The Alvéole scheme, supported by FUB and Rozo, is aimed at local authorities and social landlords, enabling them to finance high-quality bicycle facilities.
