Making Waste Sorting Easier in the City Center
South of Paris, the town of Gentilly has recently expanded its waste sorting facilities by installing several Multiflux trash shelters throughout the town, with the aim of making it easier for residents to sort their waste outside the home and encouraging them to adopt good habits in their daily lives.
The Abri Plus teams worked with the local government to install 12 recycling bins at strategic locations, including parks, stadiums, subway stations, and the entrances to public buildings such as gymnasiums. This layout was designed to capture user traffic and make recycling accessible everywhere, at any time.
Trash shelters designed to simplify recycling
To ensure proper use, each recycling shelter has been equipped with clear, informative signage. Stickers make iteasy to identify waste streams, making the sorting process more intuitive for all users, regardless of their background. This system improves the quality of sorting while minimizing disposal errors. Three types of waste are thus separated:
- household trash,
- glass,
- packaging and paper.
Equipment designed for urban use
The Multiflux shelters installed throughout the city can accommodate trash bins ranging from 120 to 360 liters, providing sufficient capacity for high-traffic areas. This equipment makes it possible to centralize collection points, keep public spaces clean, and visually organize recycling areas in public spaces.
Designed to blend into their surroundings, these bin shelters also help reduce the visual impact of waste, while improving convenience for residents and waste collection workers.

A Concrete Response to the Challenges Facing Local Communities
Waste sorting is no longer limited to the home. In public spaces, it is becoming essential to provide tailored solutions to support users as they go about their daily lives. With these trash shelter stations, the city of Gentilly promotes the continuation of waste sorting outside the home in a way that is simple and intuitive for everyone.
This type of facility also enables local governments to meet regulatory requirements, particularly those under the AGEC Act, which mandates the implementation of off-site waste sorting systems. Multiflux shelters are designed in accordance with the recommendations of CITEO, thereby ensuring a compliant, sustainable solution that is well-suited to today’s waste management challenges.
Trash Enclosures for a Cleaner, More Sustainable City
With this installation, Gentilly is taking another step forward in improving its urban infrastructure. By making it easier to sort waste through practical, clearly labeled, and well-placed trash shelters, the municipality is encouraging more responsible behavior and actively contributing to better waste management within its jurisdiction.
A practical initiative that illustrates the key role of recycling facilities in cities’ ecological transition!
