In partnership with UGAP, Abriplus has manufactured and installed 2 KOMPACT secure bike shelters in the Communauté d’Agglomération Cannes Pays de Lérins (CACPL).
The project was initiated by representatives of the Greater Cannes Mobility Department, who wanted to install secure bicycle shelters to “encourage and facilitate the use of bicycles as a complement to public transport”.
They quickly opted for theKOMPACT bike shelter from Abriplus , which is self-sufficient in energy thanks to solar panels on the roof.
The two collective bike lockers were pre-assembled at the Abriplus factory near Nantes, then transported and installed by crane truck in strategic locations on the PALM VÉLO transport network: in Mandelieu-La Napoule at the “La Canardière” park-and-ride site, and in Mougins at the “Tournamy” parking lot.
For these bicycle shelters near Cannes (06), a double cladding system was chosen: a central cladding in solid sheet metal with customized adhesives, and a top and bottom cladding in larch wood battens.
The wooden cladding was a perfect match for the ‘green’ image the town wishes to promote.
Inside the KOMPACT bike shelter, 12 2 park-up bike racks with securing rings have been installed on 2 levels: 6 high and 6 low bike racks.
Each bike shelter has 12 bicycle spaces, including 3 for recharging electrically-assisted bicycles (EABs).
The CACPL’s bike shelters have been fitted with a dual power supply: a power supply via 3 solar panels for VAE recharging, and a connection to the standard electrical network to power access control and lighting.
The bike shelters are totally secure and accessible 24/7 using a Vigik badge. Users pay a monthly or annual subscription to secure their bike inside the bike shelter with their personal anti-theft device.
On the outside of the shelter, a wheel chock facilitates the user’s experience, leaving his hands free to sign in and access the bike shelter.
An information frame on the front panel displays the rules for using the bike locker.
A bike pump near the bike shelter completes the range of services available to cyclists.
The shelters have been open since mid-January, making it easy for cyclists to secure their bikes before catching the bus.
This model of bicycle shelter is eligible for the Alvéole subsidy program, from which local authorities can still benefit until the end of the year.
