The Université de Lorraine is present in two metropolises and eleven towns in the region. In Metz, the Saulcy campus is the academic heart of the city, located on the Ile du Saulcy. It is one of the main university sites of the Université de Lorraine, and brings together several training and research units, as well as a large university residence comprising almost 944 housing units. In total, almost 12,000 students study on this campus.
The Université de Lorraine has launched an ambitious project entitled “SaULcy 2035”, which aims to transform the campus in a sustainable way. This sustainable development plan is part of a broader strategy for quality of life, mobility, ecological transition and the attractiveness of the region. The campus has therefore focused on mobility, outdoor spaces, biodiversity and the integration of the campus into its environment.
As part of this project, the campus called on Abri Plus to fit out its outdoor areas with bicycle parking spaces.
Bicycle parking areas have been distributed in the immediate vicinity of all campus buildings, to ensure quick and easy access to each site and to facilitate the movement of soft mobility users. A total of 10 open bicycle shelters with terminals have been placed throughout the Saulcy campus.
The shelters installed are Mosaïc open bike shelters, designed to integrate easily into all types of environments, while offering a solution that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing for cyclists. Fully customizable, they have been fitted with wooden walls to blend harmoniously into the campus landscape.
A total of ten shelters were installed throughout the site. With a standard size of 4 m x 2 m, some modules have been assembled to form larger 8 m x 2 m structures, increasing parking capacity. All the shelters are equipped with Ux bollards, ensuring that bicycles are both held and secured. The 4-meter modules can accommodate up to 4 bikes, while the 8-meter configurations offer parking capacity for 8 bikes.
