A Nomad bicycle shelter from Abri Plus has been installed at the new Pôle d’Echange Multimodal (PEM) at the SNCF railway station in Périgueux (24), in collaboration with the public works company Eurovia Aquitaine.
As part of the deployment of the Plan Global de Déplacements, and in order to encourage intermodality in the daily journeys of Périgourdins, Greater Périgueux has called on Abri Plus to manufacture and install a large-capacity, secure bicycle shelter in the vicinity of the station.
The Nomad bike park chosen by the Communauté d’Agglo du Grand Périgueux consists of 3 modules of 16 bikes each, enabling 48 bikes to be secured in double bike racks.
Each shelter module is pre-assembled and fitted out in our factory near Nantes, then transported by truck and crane to the site.

The interior of the shelter has been fitted with double-decker 2 park-up bike racks with top and bottom securing rings (48 bike racks). 10 double racks have also been fitted with VAE sockets for charging the batteries of electrically-assisted bicycles.
This bicycle shelter for Périgueux measures approximately 6 meters long by 7.20 meters wide and almost 3 meters high. The cover is made of hot-dip galvanized wire mesh.
Around the perimeter of the shelter, a central strip has been customized with bicycle signage and green “bike park” markings. The logos of the Greater Périgueux conurbation and the “Périmouv” transport network were also applied to the door.
This complete personalization of the shelter makes it highly visible to passers-by and station users alike.

The multi-modal hub at Périgueux station thus becomes a genuine interface for different modes of transport.
A few weeks earlier, the municipality of Trélissac, a few kilometers from Périgueux, had equipped itself with a Grand Lieu open bike shelter and connected A terminals, as well as individual Vel’box bike boxes.

With these new bicycle facilities, the Dordogne department (24) is making getting around one of its priorities and encouraging residents to give priority to public transport and soft modes of transport.
