Rotocompost in a secondary school in Eure-Et-Loir (28)

Recently, the Abriplus team had the opportunity to visit the Florimond Robertet college in Brou (28) to observe the use of Rotocompost – Ridan, which has been in place for several months. The visit enabled us to see the benefits of this on-site composting solution, and to gather valuable feedback on its day-to-day operation.

As a reminder, the Rotocompost (Ridan) is a rotating mechanical composter. It recycles food waste, preparation scraps and plate scraps. At the Florimond Robertet secondary school, over 250 meals are served every day.

For several years now, the school has been implementing a sorting and waste prevention program. At the end of each shift, biowaste represents an average of 2 x 20L biobuckets per day. It is then poured into the Rotocompost with wood shavings, to be stirred with the dedicated crank handle.

Since September, 600L of “pre-compost” has been produced. A great initiative that will be used to fertilize the college’s green spaces after 8 weeks of maturation.

Abriplus has designed an innovative range dedicated to the sorting and local recovery of bio-waste, including community composters and voluntary drop-off points for organic waste.

Our communal composters make composting easier, particularly in urban areas and businesses, making the practice more accessible. As for our biowaste shelters, they make collecting everyday food waste simple and efficient.

Schools’ commitment to waste sorting reflects a strong desire to contribute to the reuse of food, which is often thrown away in large quantities, and the fight against waste.

The project was funded by the Eure-et-Loir département, as part of the implementation of a mix of biowaste recovery solutions for secondary schools. Combined with an ambitious food policy, this generates a virtuous loop from the plate to the ground.
