Bicycle, motorcycle and pedestrian shelters at the Port of Boulogne-Calais (62)

Société d’Exploitation des Ports du Détroit (SEPD) has worked with Abri Plus to improve the welcome and comfort of passengers at the port of Boulogne-Calais.

In Pas-de-Calais (62), two custom-built 15-meter-long shelters were manufactured and installed in zone 8 of the port.

Thanks to the principle of modularity, these two shelters were built with 2 modules of 10 meters, adjoined by an additional module of 5 meters with a return façade.

These Varennes base shelters are separated into several distinct zones: part of the shelter allows cyclists to secure their bikes on inverted U-shaped bollards.

In a second area, bikers waiting to board can also shelter their bikes from the elements.

The last sheltered area is dedicated to pedestrians. A return façade over thepedestrian shelter provides shelter in case of rain, and metal benches keep users waiting in good conditions.

Customized adhesive logos have been affixed to the shelters, visible from afar and defining each zone.

These new facilities, installed during the summer period, enable passengers awaiting boarding to take shelter from inclement weather in optimal conditions of comfort and safety.

In addition to these passenger shelters, other services are also offered to passengers passing through the port, including a “Welcome area” for peak periods, and a terrace equipped with benches and tables.
