A collective composter installed at the foot of buildings in Clichy-Sous-Bois (93)!

At the foot of a social housing complex in Clichy-sous-Bois, near Paris, Abri Plus recently installed a collective composter to facilitate the sorting and recovery of bio-waste on a daily basis. The aim: to make composting simple, accessible and practical for all residents.

Since January 2024, the AGEC law has required all French households to sort bio-waste. This regulatory change aims to reduce the volume of waste incinerated, while encouraging its transformation into compost. In this context, the installation of community composters in the heart of neighborhoods appears to be an effective solution for supporting local authorities and encouraging the adoption of new sorting reflexes.

Composting

Composting is a natural process that transforms organic waste into a 100% natural fertilizer. It consists of alternating contributions of biowaste and dry matter, mixing and then allowing the compost to mature before use. It’s a simple process with multiple benefits: it reduces household waste, enriches the soil and contributes to more sustainable resource management, while combating food waste.

The AbriPlus solution

For this project, Abri Plus proposed its BioCompost shelter, an eco-designed, ergonomic and durable collective composter, fully adaptable to the needs of the site. Here, three 600-liter bins were assembled to provide sufficient capacity for all residents, while integrating into the footprint of the buildings.

The BioCompost has also been personalized with educational stickers explaining how it works. A fun, accessible approach that enables everyone to quickly understand the right gestures to adopt.

A practical, useful installation that promotes eco-responsibility and waste sorting at source, directly in the daily lives of local residents!
