Le Rheu (35) puts the spotlight on cycling with an Abriplus innovation!

For the creation of the Maison du Vélo in Le Rheu (35), Abriplus manufactured and installed a Pescara bicycle shelter equipped with solar panels!

In the early stages of the project, the person in charge of planning and technical services at the commune wanted to make room for bicycles on the public domain by installing a covered bicycle and VAE parking area in the town center.

ThePESCARA open bike shelter from Abriplus was chosen by the project managers for its contemporary design and transparency thanks to its large glass walls.

The sturdy, adjustable legs are fully concealed in the posts for a perfect finish.

Thanks to its sleek design, this Abriplus innovation blends perfectly into any environment. What’s more, our RAL color chart of over 180 colors allows for total customization !

This flat-roofed bicycle shelter is 4 meters long and 2.20 meters wide, and provides protection for 3 bicycle bollards and a JULIETTE bollard for powered bicycles.

This means that 6 conventional bikes and 1 electric-assist bike can be secured under the bike shelter.

Solar panels have been integrated into the roof of the bicycle shelter.

These 2 photovoltaic panelspower the VAE charging station, which in turn supplies electricity to the batteries of parked electric bicycles.

The electrical cabinet connected to the VAE station is discreet and integrates perfectly with one of the shelter’s posts.

The JULIETTEVAE terminal is therefore 100% solar-powered, for complete energy autonomy.

Solar panels require simple maintenance and regular cleaning to ensure year-round operation.

A display frame at the back of the shelter can also be used to inform cyclists about bicycle services and news from the cultural center.

For this turnkey project, our integrated Design Office drew up the plans and managed the entire project, working with the solar solution supplier and the electrician for installation and connection to the Juliette VAE station.

In addition to this bicycle parking, self-service bicycle facilities have been installed nearby for Rheusois cyclists to encourage cycling:

– a bike repair totem to carry out basic repairs on your bike and the integrated bike pump to easily reinflate the tires of all types of bikes;

This bicycle facility is part of the overall development of cycling in Rennes Métropole.

The commune of Le Rheu has also been able to benefit from the Alvéole scheme, which enables local authorities and social landlords to finance part of their installations for bicycles and VAEs (up to 60% of the construction costs covered).
