Electrically-assisted bikes and scooters are now part of our daily lives. They’re popping up in streets, parking lots, garages…and offices! Particularly popular for commuting, they offer many advantages, but also present major challenges when it comes to organizing parking and recharging.

Let’s take stock!

THE RISE OF ELECTRIC MOBILITY IN THE WORKPLACE

Recent years have seen a significant rise in electric mobility in the workplace, accentuated by the Covid crisis. Faced with the individual combustion-powered car and public transport congestion, electric mobility is emerging as a practical, economical and ecological alternative. And this is particularly true when it comes to electric AND soft mobility! By bike or scooter: reducing CO2 emissions, saving money, getting active, easy access for all… So many advantages that have convinced many employees to take the plunge.

Electrically-assisted bicycles (EABs) and scooters are becoming the preferred means of transport, but they also present companies with challenges in terms of parking and recharging.

THE CHALLENGE OF ACCOMMODATING ELECTRIC BIKES AND SCOOTERS

While companies are now accustomed to accommodating motorists and parking their cars, accommodating other modes of locomotion is still a complex issue. The majority of companies have no suitable space for bicycles or scooters. The absence of a well-equipped business parking lot is a major obstacle to the development of electric mobility.

Of all the problems encountered by employers, the most frequent is the number of people who have to bring their bike batteries – or even their scooter batteries – up to their office to recharge them. As well as taking up a large number of electrical sockets, this clogs up offices that are not adapted to accommodate these vehicles.

This situation occurs even without the need for recharging: without a security system, users prefer to keep their scooter or even their bike at the office to avoid theft.

In short, without adequate infrastructure: office disorganization, space congestion, discouragement… It will be more difficult for employees to take the plunge towards sustainable mobility!

MANAGE AND OPTIMIZE RECHARGING AND PARKING

Encouraging electric mobility in general means thinking about electric cars and their charging stations, as well as electric bikes and scooters! They take up less space, consume less energy and are particularly beneficial for body and mind.

The first step is to create a shelter or free up space in a parking lot to accommodate these new vehicles. This location must be well sheltered from the elements – batteries don’t take well to damp – and must be sufficiently secure.

Then equip it with the right supports:

For electric bikes

Designed and manufactured in our French workshops, the e-Park terminal enables two VAEs to be parked and recharged simultaneously. Thanks to its ergonomic design, it takes up little space and is easy to use:

  • Park close to the terminal
  • Plug into the socket and place the charger in the dedicated space
  • Close the hatch and secure your bike and charger in one place!

The whole electric bike is perfectly secure, and recharging can be carried out with complete peace of mind.

For electric scooters

The latest addition to our innovation team, the Trot-e-Park charging station allows you to park up to 4 electric scooters at the same time. What’s more, each space has a locker with an electric socket for recharging your scooter. These storage lockers are large enough to hold your helmet, yellow vest and all your transport gear, so you don’t have to carry them around the office. To facilitate security, the trapdoor can be closed so that personal belongings and scooter can be secured at a single point, using an anti-theft device (such as handcuffs) or a padlock.
