Motorcycle shelters

An open motorcycle shelter or two-wheeler shelter is, by definition, a covered structure with an ‘open’ front to facilitate the parking of motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and protect them from the elements. An open two-wheeler shelter is often chosen for temporary motorcycle parking, meaning short-term parking. For complete security, a closed motorcycle shelter can be installed.

The choice of a particular motorcycle shelter model will depend on several criteria:
• The average budget allocated for motorcycle parking
• Its aesthetics and design (roof shape, cladding in wood, steel, combination of materials, etc.)
• The available floor space

To determine the recommended dimensions for my motorcycle shelter, it is important to first assess the desired parking capacity, meaning the number of motorcycle parking spaces. Since the space required for a motorcycle is larger than that of a bicycle, this must also be considered in the preliminary design, along with the available floor space for the motorcycle shelter.

All our motorcycle shelters are made from a galvanized steel structure that is then painted (thermosetting polyester paint baked at 200°C, UV resistant). The cladding of the structures depends on the model: wood, glass, etc. The roof can be flat or vaulted.

To install a motorcycle shelter, a solid ground surface is required (asphalt or concrete slab). Civil engineering work must be completed in advance of the shelter installation. For certain models, concrete blocks may be sufficient, as long as their size is large enough to accommodate the shelter’s feet (fixed at 4 points). On the day of installation, in order for our team to access the site with a truck and assemble the structure, the area around the motorcycle shelter must be cleared of at least 4 meters.

To install a covered motorcycle shelter, it is absolutely necessary to have a solid ground, such as asphalt or a concrete slab, and to plan for civil engineering work if it’s absent. However, in some cases, it will be sufficient to install concrete pads of adequate size to accept the shelter’s legs (fixed at 4 points). On the installation day, the area receiving the motorcycle shelter must be cleared of at least 4 meters around the perimeter to accommodate the transport vehicle on one hand, and to allow the space for the structure assembly and clearance on the other.

All manufacturing is done to order in our workshops in Nantes. A lead time of at least 4 to 6 weeks is required for the installation of a covered motorcycle shelter with standard dimensions. In case of specific requirements, the intervention of our design office for custom plans is mandatory. Longer manufacturing times will therefore be required, and you should expect a lead time of around ten weeks.
