A parking post is a bike rack made of galvanized and/or painted steel that allows you to park a bike (or bicycle) so that it is held and secured (locked to prevent theft). Fixed to the ground (hard surfaces, concrete, or asphalt), it helps prevent random and unsecured parking. This way, the two-wheeler owner can lock (secure) their bike optimally by attaching both the frame and the wheel with a lock. There are several models of bike posts depending on their design and the number of ground fixation points (1 or 2), each offering excellent value for money. These metal supports come in 2 distinct finishes that vary depending on the budget: the post is either in raw galvanized steel (which significantly reduces oxidation) or in a painted finish (thermosetting polyester paint baked at 200°C, UV resistant) in the RAL color chart. For high-density Bike parkings, posts can be grouped in a line on a steel plate in groups of 5 or even 10. It is also worth noting that when the posts need to be fixed on an asphalt surface (not concrete), the posts are connected by a steel plate, and the entire setup is anchored to the ground. This system ensures the long-term stability of the posts and eliminates the need for civil engineering work. All the posts easily accommodate all types of bikes, including city bikes, mountain bikes, vintage bicycles, road bikes, or racing bikes.
The parking posts are primarily placed in high-traffic areas for bicycles. They can be concentrated in schools, middle schools, and high schools, near shopping centers and supermarkets, in city centers, near local shops, near train stations, at the entrances of hospitals, near parking lots, or close to public transport stations.
It is worth noting that today, in large cities or medium-sized towns, the installation of bike racks is multiplying in urban areas, particularly in multimodal exchange points: these racks provide bicycle security at the crossroads of public transport (trains, buses, metros, trams) and car parks. Since they are very weather-resistant (galvanized or painted steel), bike racks can be placed either outdoors (in the open air) or under dedicated two-wheeler shelters, open shelters (one side open for access), or closed and secure bike shelters.
